Steve St. Juliana and Buck Myre appeared on Anderson Cooper's show following the verdict of the shooter's mother, who was found guilty on all four counts of involuntary manslaughter. You can find the video linked here.
Once again, our school district remains silent on the matter. Anderson Cooper included a footnote, mentioning his attempt to obtain a response from the Oxford District, but received no reply.
The families are adamant about holding every accountable party responsible. Initially, the focus was on the shooter, followed by his mother, and now attention turns to his father. However, charges have yet to be levied against those within the school system who failed in their responsibilities. Not only did individuals such as Ejak, Hopkins, Wolfe, Fine, and Lemond, along with the board members and superintendent, fail the shooter, but they also failed the families of Tate, Hana, Justin, and Madisyn, along with the additional 1592 students present that day. During the recent trial, Oakland County's Karen McDonald explicitly stated that the school system had failed, specifically calling out Hopkins and Ejak. Here's the clip of her statement. Therefore, the question arises: why haven't charges been brought against them? While we hope that a case is being constructed, it's challenging to maintain faith, especially when the District Attorney previously indicated reluctance to press charges against the school. We implore for your support. We need your voices to join us ( near and far, across the USA and beyond) in urging Karen McDonald to ensure universal accountability. prosecutor@oakgov.com | 248.858.0656. 1200 N. Telegraph Rd. footnote: we are pro-public schools. However, it's crucial to recognize that a school's quality heavily depends on its leadership. We require leaders with integrity and strong moral compasses to guide our children and community through this challenging time.
